10 WAYS TO SKYROCKET A SUCCESSFUL CAREER

(Story) A few days ago, I happened to run into the father of one of my daughter’s friends. We talked about two of my favorite topics, career advancement and business strategies.

As we talked about our perspective career projects I, became to explain to him my unique approach.

I told him about the secrets of how to successfully grow a career that I had been using and that most people don’t even think about.

Its called using one’s own Uncommon Energy.

Here are 10 ways to do just that:

1. LEVERAGE IS KEY!

Locate a person who was let go, quit, moved on, or retired from the prospective company (you wish to work for) and ask him or her for a personal introduction to someone at the company. You can do it by e-mail or phone. This way you are not just another person off the street or down the hall trying to sell yourself.

2. DON’T HAVE TO TALK PROFESSIONALLY, BUT! Always communicate with passion, poise and lots of energy with whom ever you meet. Many times in your day-to-day life you can come off as being very stiff and aloof. If you want to receive something of value from someone, every word you utter must be sincere and honest.

3. CAN QUESTIONS SWIM?

Of course they can!

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Questions move you along in the tides of life. In rough or calm waters, knowing how to swim can be very helpful. If you don’t know how to swim, asking how do I learn to swim can be the key to a more abundant life and better career positioning.

4. A SIDELINE QUESTION!

Ask yourself this question from time to time. “If I had 15 million dollars what “sideline project” would I start?”

I asked a lady seeking a successful career once and she said, “If I had 15 million dollars I would start a bakery project. I loved to bake and play sports.

I then suggested her ideal sideline project should be baking cookies, pie and cupcakes, and placing simple sport icons all over them. Then start giving them to her colleagues at work and networking. She did!

5. DOES SNOW MAKE UNCERTAINTY IN CAREERS?

You either wait until the snow subsides or move it. That’s right, shovel or plow it. The same goes for your career. Wait for things to change or move the career in your desired direction.

I went outside to our neighborhood grocery wearing my sneakers. Not a good choice of footwear. It’s snows in New York City and the sidewalks are sometimes very slippery. When snow is on the ground sometimes the sidewalk and streets can be treacherous. It can cause one to be very insecure regarding their footing.

6. DECIDE BETWEEN THE BEST ENERGIES!

Every morning before work (between 5:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.) you must decide and visualize how you are going to take your career to the next level and how much emotional intensity you are willing to exude to make that happen. Decide between the numbers 1 being the lowest to 10 being the highest. (A level 7 is the best energy level to be before you go out the door).

7. MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN AT WORK!

Put yourself in a position to make something happen at your job. For example: If you see a project around the workplace that needs to be done. You do it without having to be asked. People notice!

8. CAN SELF-HELP VIDEOS REALLY UNLOCK YOUR CAREER?

This is a life-changer: get 3 good Self-Help (Personal Development) Videos from You Tube, or Netflix on subjects such as attitude, positive thinking, time management or goal setting.

Some title suggestions would be: The Five Must Have Traits for Success in Life, Anxiety Attacks Cure, 10 Tricks to Good Self Esteem, How to Overcome Shyness, The Power of Positive Habits.

Watch these in the early mornings, watch them at bedtime, and watch portions of them as you wait in the checkout line of the grocery store. Over and over again.

Bookstores and libraries have separate self-help sections. Personal Development Consultant, Andre Taylor’s You Can Still Win is a great place in which to start.

9. DID YOU KNOW…A HOBBY-CAREER IS THE NEW JOB-SECURITY?

My friend K. Williams is a part-time caricature artist. Everyone should be focused on how to add more value to either their current employer or to the global marketplace with a passionate Hobby-Career.

A Hobby-Career is a new mindset. It suggests that if you are now working for an established company, organization, or institution (in what we used to refer to as a career with job-security), then you must immediately find your passion or thing you’re pretty good at and “exchange” that product, idea, or service in a unique way with more people on you own!

This is just one key to your future. This is the key to “rising above” in this new economy in which we now find ourselves.

10. BE A NETWORKING COACH

I have a friend who has been a college basketball coach for many years. He has had to network, sometimes feverishly, to stay ahead of the trading and shifting coaching jobs that transpire rapidly within his industry.

He recommends studying a person’s background (what school they went to, marital status, the number of children they have and their names, etc.)

Call people just to say "hello," only to put yourself in their heads, when various positions arise.

“It’s all about who knows you. I’m the best networker in the business,” he says proudly.

I believe, as scientists have come to know: EVERYTHING IS ENERGY (its in people, things, etc) you can attract anything you choose (money, career, relationships) by knowing how to connect and add value with your ‘uncommon energy.’
